Beacon Hill Area Neighborhood Association
BHANA is a voluntary association of residents (homeowners and renters), property owners and local businesses. Founded in 1978, it promotes the “preservation, protection, and development of the Beacon Hill Area, to provide a better quality environment for living and enjoying the rich multi-cultural heritage of both past and present by extending opportunities to residents; landowners; or anyone doing business in the area; or any interested party through education, along lines of neighborhood and community affairs, and local topics of immediate interest...” We charge no dues, and everyone is invited and encouraged to participate.
BHANA’s general membership meeting is the second Monday of almost every month. Our seven-member board meets almost every month on the last Monday. Meetings are open to all. To keep our membership informed, we produce and print an eight-page monthly newsletter which we deliver to doorsteps through a network of volunteers to 2,200 households; more copies are distributed to local businesses for patrons to pick up.
Elizabeth Eichhorn
President
This is my second year as President of Beacon Hill Area Neighborhood Association. My husband, Victor, and I moved to Beacon Hill in late April 2022. We went to Porchfest the weekend after we moved in and knew that we had chosen the perfect neighborhood for us. You can usually catch me in my front yard planting more native plants, walking the streets in the early morning, or at Bright Coffee. I have been the chair of the Heart of the Neighborhood committee, board director, and served on the linear park committee. It is an absolute pleasure to serve as president of BHANA. I love this community and neighborhood.
Erin Campbell
Vice President
I moved here to Beacon Hill in 2021 and was welcomed with open arms by the community. I have served on the BHANA board the past two years. I want to use my experience with local government and my former life as an event planner to foster engagement, advance Beacon Hill priorities, and be an advocate for what makes our neighborhood “weirdly special.” If you see me around the neighborhood it will typically be with my big poofy gray dog named Jet.
Cynthia Spielman
Secretary
I am a retired public high school English teacher who moved to Beacon Hill in 2001. I am one of four generations who have lived in this neighborhood, the last being my 18-month old granddaughter who lives on Mistletoe. Since 2002, I have served on the board or on various committees. I love this neighborhood and I am so excited about all of the new ideas and the great neighbors who have stepped up to volunteer. I believe that positive change in the world begins on a local level and I feel lucky to be surrounded by neighbors who seem to recognize how important local efforts are.

Treasurer
My wife and I, and a multitude of cats, have lived in Beacon Hill since 2008. My work for the neighborhood association started innocently enough, just delivering newsletters once a month. But after serving on 3 committees and now starting my 8th term on the board, I think it may have gotten out of hand.
Erin May
Director
I moved to San Antonio in 2005. After living in a few different parts of town, I bought my home in Beacon Hill in 2020 due to the character of the neighborhood and the proximity to work. I still remember receiving my first newsletter and felt a strong sense of community! I’ve had the pleasure of being an H-E-B partner for the past 15 years. When I’m not at the office, I enjoy staying active by walking through the neighborhood and getting together with friends enjoying all San Antonio has to offer.
Erica Wohlleben
Director
I moved to Beacon Hill with my husband and our dog in 2024 after hearing about the strong sense of community here, and it’s lived up to the hype! I’ve worked in commuter transportation for over 10 years, and when I’m not working, I love running, cooking, and finding great live music around San Antonio. I’m excited to be part of the board and help keep Beacon Hill a wonderful place to live.
Robert Owen
Director
I am a retired photojournalists having worked at the Express-News for 38 years. My wife Jennifer and I moved to Beacon Hill in 2017 and have enjoyed helping with many community events that our neighborhood offers. If you don’t see me working on our house or puttering around in the yard, I’m probably traveling or kayak fishing. Looking forward to serving as a board director.
